Today marks the halfway point in the pregnancy. Lookin’ good in the neighborhood.
Jens Paper Airplane:
The ribs are a HARD place to tattoo, especially on the curvy gals. There’s a couple of blowouts in this one, but thanks to Sarah, we got it looking pretty good.

Don’t Tread on Me:
Concept taken from Benjamin Franklin’s “Join or Die” political cartoon during the French & Indian War.
Second piece I’ve tattooed on myself and thanks to Josh, I was able to work with an amazing stencil. Still shaking my head that he banged this drawing out in 15-20 minutes. I can only take credit for third of the line work and some shading here and there.
Nothing like tattooing yourself to really get a “feel” for it.

Commemorative Anchor & Beer Mug:
This is the first set of tattoo pieces I did under the apprenticeship. I was able to convince my pal Erik to come out from Charlotte to be the first victim. He was great and encouraging to say the least. They’re a tad bit wonky, mainly in part that it was a nerve racking day but I am happy to report that I have the best teachers and had enough good people around throughout the day to coach me through the whole thing.
I really can’t remember the last time I was this nervous. Maybe it’ll be a little smoother next time.
